Using Box fan for extraction?

Quick question about using a box fan (with filter) for extraction with a pop-up tent.

Kind of silly question, but I just want to make sure I do this right. Do I turn the fan backwards so it is sucking the air from inside the tent to outside? And does the filter go on back of fan (filtering overspray before hitting blades) or on the front of fan (blowing out side)?

It seems like it makes the most sense to have filter attached outside fan up next to open tent flap with fan pulling air (blowing air away from tent) but I don't always trust my logic!!

Can I use a normal box fan with a filter attached? What type of filter should I use? Is this basically what I get when I purchase an official "extraction fan" or is there something special about those?

So slow....advice please

I opened my salon in a retail setting 8 years ago. 1 powerbed, 3 tropical entry and 2 Bermuda power booths. 1 Mystic.

The past few years I added teeth whitening, weight loss wraps and a boutique.

Last year my gross was 160k. Unfortunately my overhead is high and I am barely breaking even. I have been working a FT job for the past 5 years and I take a small pay check from the salon. My payroll is over 4k a month for employees and rent 3k plus other costs.

Today we saw 17 people $92
yesterday 35 tanners $70

I know it is the slow season but this is terrible. I am having trouble with my staff as they have been with me for a while and I think they are giving up! I have set up several interviews this weekend to replace 2 of them.

Can anyone give any advice after reading this. It would be much appreciated ;)

Some friends are collection agency shopping for EFT's and I was hoping for a little forum help w/this.

Those of you who use them, who do you like and why? What is a good percentage and should they use one that reports to the big 3? Any opinions would much appreciated!

salon touch software crashing

I have been using Salon Touch and the program keeps crashing. The screen turns white and quits responding. I have to go in the task manager, end the program, and sign back on. My computer guy cleaned up my registry, so not a hardware problem. I get a message "run time error 2147467259 (80004005) connection failure" message when I close the program. Anyone else have this problem or have a suggestion. I really don't want to uninstall, and reinstall the program.

What is a high volume salon?


Example:

PEAK SEASON
65 Cust / Unit = (7 Bed Salon, 450 Customers per day)

SLOW SEASON
19 Cust / Unit = (7 Bed Salon, 130 Customers per day)


Would you consider this high volume?
How does your salon compare?
Does anyone still reach numbers like this in todays market?

A new business in my area started up offering the same service (airbrush tans) and named their business extremely close to my name which is causing confusion in my market. I have spoken to an attorney but nothing can be legally done bc the name is general. Now they are trolling my FB and Twitter followers and following them. I am all for a person starting a company and bustin their butt like I did making a name for themselves but I cannot get over them doing it off my back. What would you do?

ETS Solaris resetting mid-session

I have a 2004 ETS Solaris that is randomly resetting itself in the middle of a session. There are no error messages it just resets itself to "clean". It's daisy chained into a TMax Manager Pro. I'm not sure where to look for issues with no error codes? Any ideas?
